I'm a novice and looking at getting more into BBQ and Smoking, I already
grill and have learned alot through reading previous posts about all the
variations such as low and slow, charcoal, electric, etc..

However, I'd be interested in getting some feedback on what the group
feels about the Bradley Smoker. It looks to me like it covers several
bases. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

It really does look like a versatile cooker. My only issue is the fuel
source. They have you locked in.

Yes, I did see that and it is a concern I have. I've considered going with
a offset charcoal and/or lump but I don't want to have to tend to the coals
every 30-60 minutes. Thats why I was looking at gas or electric.

My initial goal is for ribs, brisket, jerky and then move onto other meats
like salmon and chicken. I've been paying attention to the WSM mentioned in
previous posts. Any other suggestions for an all around Smoker, Grill?

Am I having too much tunnel vision excluding charcoal or lump?

Thanks!
Jack

Do some basic math. Because of the special 'biscuits' that you need to
buy, it costs a buck an hour to run. At 20 hours per week, you get to
pay over a thousand bucks a year, forever, to run it. The unit itself
costs under $500. You need to be ready for that. It makes sense to do
if you're spending $1 an hour instead of $12 an hour for an employee,
like myself, but many would choke on this recurring cost.

I use it only for cold smoking. I bought the smoke generator unit only
and modified it to extend the max smoke time from 8 hours to 24.
I'm very, very satisfied so far. Boy am I. It's an amazing cold smoke
rig.

I agree Ed. I happened to be picking up some lump on Mon. and they had one in
the store. It looked fine but nothing truly spectacular.

It has a mechanical feed for the biscuits which seems to me like it could be a
trouble spot.

The thing that really bothered me though was the glossy sticker on the unit that
stated the min. temp. I can't remember exactly what it said but I believe it was
in >150 dF range. Too hot for cold smoking.
