Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

Default WSM -- Major Bummer

My $140 WSM from Amazon came in on the 3rd. I unpacked it this morning
to find that all three body sections were badly distorted. The body is
dented and the top and base are out of round. The porcelain is flaking
off all three pieces. There is no hope of ever getting a working smoker
out of those pieces.

A call to Weber's customer service (which didn't sound like it was
India) took care of everything. They are shipping all three replacement
parts via Fed-Ex. I can expect them in seven to ten days.

Thanks to Weber for taking care of UPS' problem

Bummer, Matthew. I know what it's like when you're waiting for a cool new
toy and it comes pre-broken.

Maybe if they were packed better it would not have been a problem.

I don't think they're packaged to be shipped individually. I'm think more like a
pallet at a time which would be handled differently.
