Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

I made the reference to Jerry Jungmann; not a regular here. He was a
frequent and well-respected contributor to other foods groups as well
as a friend of Hounds.

A damn good guy is gone! From what I know, he was a kind soul with the
newbies on afb and a mensch as well. Will cook ribs in his honor.

And post as ya learn . . . the good, the bad, the ugly. You can always
count on the regs here to give thoughtful opinions/advice in response to
intelligent posts . . . or even stupid ones, like some of mine have been!

And if you think it's beautiful, put a pic in alt.binaries.food

Some of us may have already been planning it, but for those that are
going to smoke turkey this season, how about we all use Hound's famous
citrus brine in his honor?

Thanks. I will do that and appreciate the advice/opinions of all the good
folks here. Hope that idiot troll doesn't do to this newsgroup what has
happened on some others I follow. Can really ruin a NG. Anyway, hope to be
more involved in the future and contribute something worthwhile here.

Not to worry, we've our share of trolls here. This is a tough room for
trolls...they don't last long.

Last year, I adapted the Hound's citrus brine recipe for my turkey. By this,
I mean I used his "recipe" and changed a few things (because I just *can't*
follow a recipe), but it was a winner, in more ways than one. I do plan on
using the original again this year.

LMAO. Not to worry BigDog. This group has weathered some REAL idiots,
unscathed. This shtick holtz, yavona vacootsa, will pass into the annals of
history on this NG unnoticed and unremembered, a liet motif to the pain of
our current loss.

Yep,

I used to "bump into him" in both newsgroups as Hound and I both
shared the double-whammy of being barbecue AND home-roasting
aficionados.
