You raggedy *******, he is more than "Dude" to many of us. We met him,
talked to him, and cooked and ate with him.

You wouldn't make a pimple on his ass.

I am so glad that so many of you took up the call and helped out a friend
today. When I saw that post this afternoon, I glazed a bit. I showed it to
my wife to make sure that I was reading it right, and when she gave me "that
look," I went numb. Hoping that they would have a way to find him,I tracked
down the number for the Chelan-Douglas Health District, and they transferred
me to a woman who apparently knew Dave. It looks like she did the right
thing.

Blessings to all of you who took a moment to show your concern to someone
you probably have never met. It was a sobering afternoon, but the amount of
care that is in this community is enlightening.

Thanks for showing me a lot more than BBQ.

Actually I think the description of you as an asshole is better than jerk.
Did you read the thread? Why am I responding to a troll? Stress I guess.
Oh well that is what killfiles are for once you figure out a poster has no
redeeming qualities.

You calling caring people trolls? Sorry, trolls, like yourself, are
assholes. Caring people, are just that, caring people. Dave is a caring
individual and happens to be in a rough time right now. And all would be
if they went through what he has gone through the last few weeks.

Grow up and see a shrink, asshole.

My hat is off to you, Thomas. You did a *very* good thing.
I've never met Dave, but from what I know of him from this group, he's one of
the good guys. And posts from those who have met him confirm this.
I'm pleased to hear that Dave's getting help. My thoughts will definitely be
with him and his family.

BigJolly? Or should that be PigJelly? Are you often so sadly wrong,
uncaring and universally castigated? You must live a very lonely life.
Hope for yourself that you never need friends, as I doubt you'll find any.

I did a follow up with Calgary 911 [they have a non emergency number
for such purposes], and learned that the Wenatchee authorities were
allready on it, that somebody - you - had alerted them.

One of the problems with these situations is authenticating the sender.
It's a good demonstration of why some of the common net "pranks" can
go beyond annoying and become dangerous.

Fortunately he included enough personal information that people who
knew him recognized it as authentic. And thankfully some of those kind
souls did what needed to be done.

Hi all, I have been lurking on this NG for awhile now but
never posted. I was reading a few nights ago and saw the
post from Dave and a few responses. As the reality of what
he said and the reactions and actions by others here began
to set in tears ran down my face. I was truly moved by the
love and humanity of the good people in this newsgroup.
These are some people I wouldn't mind getting to know,
good people to count as friends. I don't know Dave or any
of you, but I am so relieved that things are working out
and Dave is OK. Hope to get to know him and all the other
great posters here. With the exception of one a@#hole who
needs to be hunted down and slowly smoked over some mesquite
for about 12 hours...

Quite a few of us have met. Mostly at Q-Fests, Dave went to Florida from the
PNW to pick up a car he bought off e-bay for the boy and in the process met
a bunch of the Floridian Contingent. Fat Man went to Ohio a few times and
met most of the Mid-West Contingent. I had a Q-Fest a few years ago and met
FM and a few others from the Porch and last Feb. I went to Florida to pick
up a Big Jim LazyQ and met some of the M-W Contingent and Floridian
Contingent...
