Well, I've got 2 pork spareribs on the NB Catleman. They're about 4-1/2 lbs
each. Rubbed and will be mopping. Temp is stable at 219 with lump. I'll add
some hickory and some Kaffir lime branches in the last hour, 'cause that's
all I got.

I'm following the recipe in 'Smoke & Spice' for 'Bourbon Glazed Smoked Pork
Spareribs'. On the side will be their 'Killed Salad' and "Batter-fried
Mushrooms. Never really tried following a recipe before, except for baking
bread and pastries; time will tell (4 hours). I'll also be making
'Sourdough Cornbread', which I think is from Carl Griffith’s recipes.

First time I've been able to Q without DW adding the Asian touch. I'll pass
on the critique and accept all flames without rancor ;~D

Hell, Nick, if I'd known earlier, I would have jumped on the freeway and
headed up. Your yard is smelling good, I'm sure! Instead, I threw on a
picnic for dinner and some hot links for lunch. It's a great day for queing
in L.A. today, wouldn't you say?

Hey Hook, I sure coulda used some help! What part of town are ya in?
7 hours non-stop q'ing and cooking. Wupped my ass. Nine people demolished
it in less than an hour. Those deep-fried mushrooms were the hit of the
day.

Happy (?) Yom Kippur to all those so inclined

Sounds like you had it handled! I live just north of Dodger Stadium- on the
hill right above where the 2 and 5 freeways meet. I spent 2 years near
Magnolia and Cahuenga and finally escaped to where there are some trees.
Where are you?

My picnic also took 7 hours- good thing I had nothing better to do than
watch 3 baseball games yesterday. Our guests left just enough that I can
make some pork tacos for tonight's game 5.

Mmm...carnitas...

Yeah. I've got a few ribs to gnaw on today. And cornbread . . . it came out
a little dry (NOT burned), so most people had one piece at most. I
celebrated the end of last night's festivities with two 8 oz. Tanqueray
Martinis and am now having a Russian coffee to clear the cobwebs out . . .
hair of the bear, so to speak.

Hasta la vista, Rojo!
