I've probably tried grilling with over a dozen cookbooks. In each and ever case, the burning paper pages gives the meat a terrible flavor and the plastic covers of many cookbooks melts and is very difficult to remove from the grill tub. My advice would be to use charcoal or gas for grilling and wood chips for smoking. -- Nonny Live a good and honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time. |

Beard was a great cook, he had a cool style that influenced many, but he could also put out books that would sell just because they had his name on them. If you think this one is lackluster, check out his bread book. It's even worse :) -- Reg |
