Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

So I went to Grand Island New York for a few days. Somewhere near Niagara
falls, we went to a BBQ place. The meat was good but the sauce made my
southern sweet tea look like lye water. I asked the waitress what style of
BBQ this was. She went and got the guy who supposedly cooked this "homemade
sauce" and he brought out a big bottle. I just started laughing and didn't
even ask anyone to read it. As he walked away he said "No one ever asked
that before." The waitress said, "it is supposed to be home made, you
probably shouldn't have brought out the bottle." Dah!

You think every restaurant should cater to your tastes? Next time let
them know you're coming and that you should be received like an Earl.

Excuse the hell out of me. I never saw where it was not proper or polite to
ask about food you are eating, especially if you enjoyed most of it. The
meat was wonderful and I almost fell over when he brought out a bottle of
sauce. I didn't expect anything but maybe a little education about BBQ.

You don't try very hard do you? Never ONCE seen the result, so I'm
calling you a liar. A goddamned liar, you don't try, the evidence is
there for all to see.

You don't try, you don't give a damn about netiquette, so get used to
being ignored as you have been, or are you so unaware that you've not
noticed the lack or replies and you're not being engaged in
conversation?

Seriously. This isn't Percy Petunia being a small minded little net
nerd, you make your posts too much effort to bother with.

I mean why do you think you're so special that people should go out of
THEIR way to try and read your posts? What is it about your posts that
are so damn special?

Nothing, right? So you come across as a self centered ass, because
your posting style requires extra effort.

So, keep on posting like a self centered ass, with the same result
that people ignore you, or not. Up to you isn't it?

Since kill-filling them, I didn't know they were even still posting. I agree
with you, it is a pain to try and figure out what those two are trying to
post about with their refusal to abide by the conventions.

Much better, see how that works? Obsess? You shouldn't use words when
you don't know what they mean.

Anyway, it's constructive criticism, take it or leave it. Your choice.

Yeah, figured it deserves to know why it's being ignored. In a usenet
tough love kinda way naturally. Kinda doubt they'll improve any, but
hope is eternal.

The one handicap you can almost be sure of suffering in this life has to do
with vision. I hope when your turn comes you find people more patient than
yourselves.

Constructive criticism only applies when there is reasonable possibilities
of improvement. In this case it is not lack of wanting to improve but the
impossibility of doing so because of technology.

I am going to go out and Q something bought some different kinds of wood to
try and see just how it makes things taste.

In your book it's unreasonable to expect the smallest amount of
effort?

AFAIK, there is no technology that does snipping. Yet that's an
expectation too.
I was also unaware that technology does not allow you to bottom post,
snip or insert lines with a hard return between your post and those
you are replying to.

I'm soo sorry, here I thought you two were just lazy. But it's

Granby, If I didn't give damn I wouldn't be bothering now would I? You
seem like nice enough people, it's a shame that your obtuseness is
going to stunt your experience.

I said what I'm going to say. Balls in your court.

This is also my last on this subject. We have blind people, rather people
who have lost their sight on a job that have to be "let go" because they
cannot do the "snip" "insert" and delete thing in the middle of something.

I just let the air out of the ball. Do what you wish and, in the archives
there is plenty of information so I will not suffer if you don't post.

AFAIK, there is no technology that does snipping. Yet that's an
expectation too.
I was also unaware that technology does not allow you to bottom post,
snip or insert lines with a hard return between your post and those
you are replying to.

Granby, I've only had one working eye since I was 12 (62 years ago). I
guard it more than my hoard of gold!

As well you should. People just don't know how important their vision is
and, often as not, neglect caring for it. They all think they get it but,
really don't. Worked with Lions clubs years ago and our favorite meeting,
the blind center people, was to blindfold them and then serve a dinner of
spaghetti, Toss Salad and Jell-O for dessert. There of the hardest things
to eat with limited or no vision. They got a hoot out of it and so did we.

They won't make an effort. If they were to make the effort to observe proper
netiquette-- which would make their posts readable --, that would mean that
they have to give up being "special" while online. Since they can't have
their eyesight back, they enjoy the attention that being 'special' entails
and will make sure everyone damned-well knows that they are 'special'.

I have a cousin who is extremely sight-limited. He participates on-line with
Usenet. He uses a variety of software and hardware tools to help him
participate. As far as I know, the on-line NGs have no idea that he has
vision limitations BECAUSE HE TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS PARTICIPATION AND
DOESN'T WHINE ABOUT IT AND EXPECT OTHER PEOPLE TO ADAPT TO HIM.

I think that these two characters are probably trolls, and the same person.

If you cousin is this good with tech stuff, he should be sharing his
knowledge with several big corps so people could keep their jobs.

We are not the same person and, this is the only place in my life I have
been called a troll.

You have demanded that we do certain things to make things easier for you
and we say KF and get it over with.

I wish I didn't like the info I get on this group so much.

I am sorry he felt that way. Seems in trying to answer questions I just
caused more problems.

I don't consider myself worthless, I as many of you do or have done, work
at least 6 days a week. If a person wants sympathy you only have to look
between shit and syphilis in the dictionary.

After having raised a family, took care of a mother in law that, had a
stroke, and caring for a husband who was a paraplegic and a bad diabetic, I
think I am as good a person as you.

Anyway thanks for the plonk, at least now we can move on to more important
things, like @'ing.

and keep guarding it, it is a most valuable commodity, go get checked up
regular and do what the doctors say, losing my vision, even i always knew it
would happen was a great sense of sorrow, not because of these petty issues
like toop posting and empty lines, they really are trivial in the larger
sceme of things, but when you look in the face of the love of your life and
can see the smile only you can bring, you are indeed blessed, Lee

I guess this comes down to your inability to comprehend, sort like i don't
understand a stupid driver gives dh since i don't drive, if i ever get sight
and learn to drive, then and only then will i understand thsis frusteration,
may you never lose enough vision to understand these issues, Lee

I came here to learn about a new subject, all of the other groups i frequent
have no difficulty with the top posting issues after an explanation, I can
forgive that you don't understand the limits of the technology, and i will
pray that when your time comes to forgive the same or similar you will be
able to do so... I do appreciate what i have learned from you,

even call your relative blind or visually impaired
when i first started using computers it was a matter of enlarging the
font... now that is not the case.

having said that i will pray for you... i really hope you nevr lose any
vision, even a little, ... i
am so grateful i won't have your life reveiw. Lee

Thanks, Lee. My ophalmologist told me, 15 years ago, that I was developing
a cataract in my good eye and should have it removed. I still see good, so
I'll put off the operation until I can't.

To me, at least, you and Granby are inspirational.
