Default Traeger Thermostat Problems

My Traeger grill has had difficulty maintaining the temperature
setting, essentially from the first day I bought it. The grill is
equipped with a digital readout on the control panel that has the
temperature control knob on it. Even at the lowest setting, 180 deg,
the interior temperature will go as high as 400 if I let it. It just
keeps climbing. When I grill, I basically try to manually control the
temperature by switching between "Smoke" and the 180 deg. setting. I
monitor the temperature until it gets to about 300 or so, then I turn
the knob back down to "Smoke" and after about 20 minutes it's down to
below 140 deg. Then I turn it back up to 180 deg setting and go
through the whole routine again. Its a pain and makes me think its got
a chinzy pellet feeder system. I've been complaining about it to my
wife for a year now, she's sick of hearing about it, I'm tired of
dealing with it, so I'm calling the company tomorrow. Has anybody had
this problem too?
