Are Klose smokers as wonderful as people say?
What size do I need to do 5 racks of ribs at once?
The Klose website appears to be down.

Did you try:
http://www.bbqpits.com/ ?

In rec.food.equipment, you only asked about 3 racks of ribs. I still stand
by my response that I gave in that thread. ;-)

I agree with what Steve and Edwin said. Klose Smokers are among the best.
I wish that I could consider buying a Klose. Maybe someday.

By Klose standards? Very small. Have you visited the Klose website?
http://www.bbqpits.com/

Look around and drool all over your keyboard (like I did) ;-)

What all those guys said and; I use an offset smaller then the smallest
Klose. Mine is something like 18" X 26" on the main cooking grate. I
can do up to 8 racks of spares at a time using rib racks or I can simply
overlap the slabs as I usually do. I cooked 6 slabs that way along with a
couple of whole chickens on the 10th of this month for the cookin I hosted.
Nobody complained about the ribs,so I guess they were okay. The beef
ribs in particular were inhaled almost instantly. If you decide to overlap
slabs of ribs, you simply shuffle them about every hour until they're done.
Yes it will extend the cooking time a little. I'd guess about 20%, but I
don't have any way to measure the difference even if I felt like doing it.
I cooked everything the day before in two successive sessions of about
6 hours each. That included a picnic, a butt and a briskett in the first
load and two chickens and six slabs of ribs in the second session.

You could buy 3 or 4 WSM for the cost of a Klose...
;-)

LOL

Tiny, actually. I'm not sure you can buy a Klose of any size for $800, can
you?

Yes, but you still won't have the abilities of a Klose cooker.
