Default Covering cake blocks with fondant

I am doing an alphabet cake block covered with fondant for a bday cake.
It will be 5 separate cakes - at least 6 inches cube. Each cake will
be assigned a letter. The tallest cake that I have covered is 4 inches
- 10 inch square cake or 12 inch round. Do you have any tips in
covering the cake blocks?

Thanks
