I carry a bottle of urine glucose test strips to test fountain soda.
Even if I get it at a self-serve fountain or I can see it being dispensed.
These strips are cheap (though I do replace the bottle after about 6
months). And they won't work in all countries -- some places use a different
form of sugar. But they do work just fine in the USA for Coke & Pepsi.
