Most females are a bit low on folate (Vit. M), cobalamine (Vit. B12) and
iron, especially after child birth and lactation. Sometimes pyridoxine
(Vit. B6) can also be low. During pregnancy and lactation water (at
least 1200 ml/d on top of normal intake) and protein (about 10 g/d on
top of the normal about 50 g/d) need to be taken in in sufficient
quantities.

Whole grain cereals, eggs, dairy products, fruit, leafy vegetables,
yeast and potatoes are good sources of these nutrients. If your wifes
pregnancy was supervisded by a physician he/she will have tested for
outright deficiencies and given specific advise where needed. A good,
tasty, varied diet is probably best, together with the regular check ups
for mother and child.
