Default Sealing wax effect on wine quality

Would ADDING a wax seal to a an already sealed / corked bottle of wine (dipping in wax at 275-300 degrees for approximately 3-5 seconds, then room temp water to cool for 10 seconds) compromise the quality of wine within?
