[TN] '10 Occhipinti Frappato (for Mike T)
With tonight's dinner of roast chicken, homemade pasta in fresh tomato
sauce and green beans, I opened:
2010 Arianna Occhipinti IGT "Il Frappato"
nose: a bit of barnyard, dusty cherry, a hint of graphite, stones
palate: medium-light, good acidity, rich midpalate fruit
This wine is 100% Frappato (a variety indigenous to Sicily) grown on the
slopes of Mt. Etna. Fairly lightweight for a red, it nonetheless had
plenty of extract and was robustly fruity. Really lovely with the
chicken, it also paired well with the pasta. In the absence of food,
the acidity of the wine stood out a bit.
