Jean wasn't feeling so great this evening, so we went with classic
"comfort food" (roast chicken and potatoes with a spinach salad). Jean
requested a red-fruited Beaujolais with that dinner, so down to the
cellar for a bottle of:

2009 Domaine de Vissoux (Jean-Pierre Chermette) Beaujolais Vieilles
Vignes "Cuvée Traditionelle"

nose: red fruits, a hint of grapefruit, floral
palate: lush and juicy, smooth, vibrant acidity, medium body

Just lovely, really pretty. To me, this epitomizes what non-Cru
Beaujolais is all about ("Vin de soif" as the French put it): a wine for
drinking now and enjoying. It's all of that and more. I'm sure that
it'll last for a few more years and with a natural cork shouldn't fade
too quickly, but will it be any better than it is today? I'm not so sure.
