Default WTN: A Huet, a Prum, and lotsa squid

Betsy was playing a concert Sunday, I did some work, some shopping
(Christmas shopping, but that brought me close to my favorite Asian
supermarket), and then prepped dinner. When Betsy got home we enjoyed
kai sen udon (with squid, fishcake, shrimp, scallops) and the 2008
Huet Clos du Bourg Sec. Lighter/lither than recent '07, fairly open,
floral, lime fruit with a little waxy note. Really tasty, just off-
dry, good length. B+/A-

I had picked up some long beans, and bought way too much squid, so
Monday we had salt'n'pepper squid, a squid strifry with ginger and
peppers, and dry cooked long beans. Wine was the 2004 JJ Prum Wehlener
Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett. Even for a relative sulphur-insensate
like myself, this was a bit much at first. But a decant seemed to
solve, leaving a very light and lovely Riesling. Pear, a little
petrol, floral, the slate is there on finish. Pretty, probably too
young, but we enjoy. B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent
wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't
drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no
promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.*
