You can use TinyUrl or Snipr, but this is much cooler:

TinyMe is an applescript. When you find a website you want to
"miniaturize" for distribution, go to the Script menu, and click
Safari's listed applescript, TinyMe.
It then snatches the current site, sends it to TinyURL for a short url,
puts the short-link in your paste-buffer. You can then paste it in
your post.
Actually, I use QuicKeys and it does all that for me with a single stroke.
