Default FA Complete Indian Housekeeper & Cook cookery book 1913

The Complete Indian Housekeeper and Cook by F.A.Steel & G Gardiner ,
1913 , a little light edgewear,otherwise VGC. 390 pages.
This really is an extremely good book, and very scarce. Basically a
book of instruction for the memsahib on running a household in British
India in the edwardian period. As well as a host of recipes, there are
instructions on dealing with the various classes of servants, rates of
pay in various indian cites, the buying of provender, dealing with
merchants, decamping to the hills in the high summer, suitable clothing
and other goods, camp life, gardening in india and a lot more. The book
is of course hideously politically incorrect, and gives real insight
into the sometimes bizarre relationships between the English and
Indian communities
