Default Late, late, late picking

Since we're going to get at least a couple of sunny (though cold) days yet,
and since the leaves still look green, I'm going to let my Niagara continue
to ripen. I'm looking for better numbers. Does this tack have a chance of
working? Should I throw in the towel, and pick now?

Ken,

I'm not an expert on Niagara, but I'd say let 'em hang. As long as there
are leaves & sun & some temp over 50°F, there should be _some_
metabolism going on, and both acid and Brix might improve a bit. Brix
might rise through dehydration alone. I only picked my reds on 10/18,
and that was because they ran out of leaves and the birds were getting a
bit bold.

I picked my chambourcin on the 20th. Leaves were turning, and I
thought it was time for the vines to harden off. Days are too short
now.

I agree with Mike.

We still have some Chardonel hanging for late harvest. Canopy is fairly
full and green. High was 85F yesterday!

clyde (keeping fingers crossed)
