How do I know if MLF has started?
I inoculated the wine with the culture yesterday and I have the carboy on a
heater to keep it up to 20 degrees or so. Will there be much bubbling or is
it fairly subtle? At the moment nothing sems to be happening.
TIA

Pickle, It doesn't always show up to be that obvious for a few days. Look
for small bubbles coming up the side of the carboy containing typically
white matter (lees). When they get to the top they commonly fall like a
comet back down. HTH

If you look closely near the neck of the carboy you should see
occasional tiny bubbles rising slowly past the neck.
