No ?'s today...just want to let my fellow wine makers know that all of my
07' vintage is secured into carboys and resting peasefully. Cases of Petite
Syrah & Old Vine Zinfandel grapes, paddling the primary every morning before
heading off to work, the hand operated crushing and pressing...washing
....washing...rinsing...rinsing...till midnight...now all seems worth it!!!
White juice is now gently ML fermenting slowly into a complexities yet to be
realized. Now I can sit back and relax for a change, with a glass of my 02'
in hand, knowing that another great vintage is before me...did it again
Cheers to all you grape crushers out there...

Lou:

I think October 29th (the date of your post) may have been premature
for some of us!

Here in Oregon early grapes all picked with low rumblings this year to
be a great vintage...then the rains came in mid October threatening
late season crop.

As it turned out we had an window of Indian Summer giving the late
season grapes a chance to dry out, get Brix and TA's in order and pick
in a panic about the time of your post.

Great Pinot, Chardonnay, Sav Blanc, and fruits wines this year, no
doubt. Cab, Merlot... we'll see. The grapes had a chance to hang in
the cool weather, then finish off nicely before picking. Could be
good, definately could've been worse.

Most of the years vintage is in the garage now in jugs. Still have
plums and elderberries in the freezer and 5gal of cab being syrup fed
for port.

Pinot Noir
Zin/Petite Syrah Field Blend (2/3-1/3)
Gamay
Reisling
Savignon Blanc
Chardonnay (making CA style, oaked, MLF, sur-lie)
Grenache
Cabernet Savignon
Pear
Yet to be processed - Plums will go into another Port Wine
Elderberry - picked very late, the birds
got most of the crop. Mature, very tasty.
