Scharzhofberger Feine Auslese Nikolauswein 1970, geerntet 5/6 Dezember.
Since this is pre-1971 wine law, there is no AP number and the now forbidden words "Feine" and "Nikolauswein" are used. Several very late harvest wines, including eisweins, were made in 1970, although 1970, in general, was not as good as 1971. The wine is a fairly full yellow and holding well. It is a rather rich auslese showing good concentrated fruit, but little evidence of honey and tropical fruits often fond in the very best years. It is not as good as Egon Muller's 1971 Scharzhofberger Auslese, but then not many other of Muller's wines are as good as his 1971 auslese either. This wine should hold very well several more years.
