Default Brisbane wine warehouse sale Fri and Sat.

I think http://www.winebuys.com has a nice selection and good prices.
Free FedEx delivery on orders over $25, which is great. I received a
delivery yesterday. They included a few bows and gift bags, too.
They're open for business to coincide with the Made in France
warehouse sale in Brisbane this Fri and Sat. Here's the email I
received.

Dear Karen,

I'm lookin' for more than a few wine lovers who love great wine at
incredible discounts. Why? You guessed it: Winebuys.com is opening its
San Francisco-area Warehouse Outlet this Saturday, from 9am to 5pm --
and we're also staying open late this Friday, from 2pm to 7pm. (See
below for directions.) Visit me in lovely Brisbane and I'll give you
an extra $10 off when you spend $129 or more!

Just in the nick of time too, because I've brought in quite a few new
discoveries. We're talkin' knock-your-socks-off-quality wines from
around the world, all discounted -- up to 50% off -- and all
risk-free. As in, "Love-it-or-Your-Money-Back," folks (and it doesn't
get any less risky than that.) So c'mon down, stock up, and help me
spread the get-ready-for-the-holidays love. --Winebuys Guy

PS: Can't make it this weekend? I'd send you bus tickets, but the
love's gotta stop somewhere. So I'll make you a deal: Spend just $25
or more, and I'll FedEx your order for free! (Now, that's gotta take
the sting out of it, eh?)

*Free FedEx Ground offer for wine shipments applies to the following
states that Winebuys.com serves: CA, CO, IA, ID, IL, MO, NM, OR, WI &
WV. Free FedEx Ground offer for accessories applies to all 50 states.
Need it overnight, or sending wine to Hawaii? FedEx Overnight or 2-Day
Express service is available for an additional charge.

Brisbane is hardly "minutes away from San Fransico". Brisbane happens to be
a few hours plane flight from Melbourne.
Please be aware that this is an international news groupd and don't be
parochial. Oh, and its not good form to advertise on newsgroups.

The traditional, possibly more constructive advice for this situation, for
very many years, has been to make use of the "distribution" field when
posting the news article. That has been used commonly in the past to limit
its geographical distribution. (For many years the SF Bay Area was
designated "ba" there.) As I haven't tried it lately, I'll leave it to
someone to comment from recent experience, if any.

I really have no affiliation with the business. I originally thought
to post in only ba.food, but thought to include the wine newsgroup
because of the topic.

I should have listened to my inner voice that was crying "do not
crosspost," but I threw caution to the wind.

Sorry!

Local source pointed out that distribution limits, though provided for in
article format, are ineffective in recent years (of the post-HTML newsgroup
world).

I am still trying to make amends for doing the same thing Ron Lel did, in
the past. An advertisement appeared internationally, giving only local
phone numbers in New Jersey (US):

SKIS 4/SALE

and I responded, more or less like Ron Lel. The ad is still there, in the
archives, along with my response (21 years ago exactly).

As a further note, here in the US we have named many places to honor those
elsewhere. A few offhand examples from memory are New Jersey, New York, New
London, Boston, Plymouth, Syracuse, Ithaca, New Orleans, New Iberia
(Louisiana), Athens (Georgia), Canton (Ohio), Paris (Texas), Vienna
(Virginia), Moscow (Idaho), Melbourne (Florida), and Brisbane (California).
These namings betoken a nontrivial element of respect.

Cheers -- Max
