Hi,
I live in Northern California. I am considering a case of wine as a gift for a friend who just had a baby. But I want it in a nice wine box not a hipping styrofoam packaging. Do you have any suggestions on a place to get the case of wine, preferably with the real case, and or a place to get the real case separatly from the wine. Thanks. Khosrownia |

Khosrownia Is your friend also in N CA? if so talk to a local merchant find out what they can get for you. If out of state watch out as shipping interstate is rife with problems- it is a felony to ship to some states |

I believe carrying wine thru CA, OR and WA is entirely legal. But even if you drove thru Kentucky (a problem state), you could avoid police searches by covering the wine, so the police can't see it. They can't search without your permission unless they can plainly see dope, alcohol etc. Do NOT carry the wine in your warm trunk. Tom Schellberg |

Khosrownia Hi, for the fun of it you might try to get hold of an empty packaging of "Liebfrauenmilch" as this seems appropriate enough for a new-born baby (especially if your friend is breast-feeding)... oh yes, and if you want to remain in good terms with her, go for something different to fill the case: what about a 2004 from the Southern hemisphere? I don't know about California, but in Europe you can find a few South African white wines (esp. Sauvignon blanc and Chenin)... Hope this helps Yves |

Liquor laws are very tricky as there is no national standard. I would repeat my advice that if you want a nice case talk to a local merchant they can get one for you. It is not only the very expensive wines that come in a nice box. Marquis de Chasse from france retails at under 10USD and yet as recently as two years ago was shipping in wood boxes. As to the wine itself well . . . |

California and Washington have reciprocal agreements for wine shipments.
There is nothing illegal about shipping the wine via UPS or Fed Ex (but then you'd have the shipper box instead of the case box it comes in). If you plan on driving it yourself, that is perfectly legal too - just keep it in a cool place in the car. Cheers! Karen "jcoulter" wrote in message ... Khosrownia wrote in : He is in Washington.
