Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio comes from the DOC Vesuvio. Most of these
wines are very ordinary. The only one I ever liked was from
Mastroberardino, but this grower makes much better wines elsewhere in
Campania. It is made in red, white, pink, dry, sweet, and sparkling
versions. The name and location probably help sell this wine. Most
should be drunk fairly young.

I'm quoting from memory but didn't the 19th (?) century writer, George
Saintsbury, describe Lacrima Cristi as "rather flat ginger beer
stirred with a sulphur match".
