Dale, here's one for you. A reasonably priced Bordeaux ($20-25US) from an
off-vintage that is pretty good. here's the note:

A strong menthol-euculyptus nose is immediate, along with...barnyard
stink? Hmmm...strong, strapping blackcurrant (and I mean "as-in-straps"),
peppermint, and cherry-cola flavors come through, along with brawney
tannins. The funkyness that was present in the nose comes out in the glass
in an almost syrah-like fashion. This Bordeaux has the weight and feel of
a California mountain (thinking Mayacamas or Spring Mountain) cab. Good
stuff from a poor vintage. B+/ 88-9
