I have a 300 CL bottle of 1987 BV G.L. Private Reserve Cabernet. It
was purchased at the winery in 1990-91 and resides in its original
box.

It has been cared for all these many years.

Can anyone tell me what this is worth? Should I just drink it? Would
you be interested in it?

Please advise,

Thank You.

This is a common request. To evaluate the wine, people on this board have to
know how it was stored (in basement, away from light and vibration, at 50
degrees, at 70 degrees). Good storage increases longevity and marketability.
Very bad storage can destroy a wine.

Please advise.

Thanks

As you requested: This wine has always been stored in a "basement"
type atmosphere, 50-60 degrees, moved no more than 3 times in 13-14
years. No vibrations, or anything of that sort.... Out of the light
completely, it is in its original wooden box.

(I used to own a restaurant, with many fine domestic wines, and
imported. Full verticals of Krug VS Cabs; partial verticals of BV
Cabs; R Mondavis; Sterlings; etc.; So... I do have a background in
wine)

This info may help, I trust

My records indicate that a bottle this size was last auctioned at
Phillips/Park Ave in New York in June of 1999. It went for $211.00US. This
house is no longer in the wine auction business. Before that the only other
sale of this wine at a major auction house was Sherry-Lehman with Sotheby's
in November of 1998. It went for $230.00US.

I would _definitely_ be interested in it. I have no idea what it's worth
though. Where are you located?
