Default Beaune Bressandes + Ch. de Gaudou ?

Hi all,

I bought a case of French wine for some corporate gifts. I've got a:

Beaune Bressandes 1st Cru 00
Ch. de Gaudou Renaissance 01

They arrived today and I need to send them today, so I'm not going to get a
chance to taste either of them. I wanted to send them out with a little note
about the wine and perhaps what sort of food would go with either of them.
Is anyone familiar with either of these wines and could perhaps help me out?

Cheers
Michael

Some more info on the Beaune Bressandes.

The bottle says

"Albert Morot"
"Proprietaire - Recoltant au Chateua de la Creusotte a Beaune"

A rather serious wine.
Dark, full bodied, quite tannic, pretty traditionally styled Cahors with
good fruit and some ageing potential (5-10 years+) [1].
A bit like a somewhat rustic left bank Bordeaux from a very hot year.

I usually have this with Cassoulet or other hearty stews but it should
work as well with a good piece of beef. Good value for money, especially
with the 20% off French regional wines at Majestics in the UK :-)

[1] Although the 14% alcohol from the very ripe harvest leaves it
doubtful whether it has enough tannins and acidity to remain in balance.

Haven't tasted this particular wine, but:
1.Morot has a decent reputation (I think acts both as a negociant and a
grower). 2. 2000 as a vintage generality is a nice comparatively early drinking
year. 3. Bressandes is one of the better vineyards in the appelation.

As to food matches, character-wise this is likely to be similar to a Volnay-
bright red (cherry?) fruit. If I was serving, I'd probably look at duck or
mushroom dishes, my first choices for red Burgs (of course there's always Boeuf
à la Bourguignonne).
