Default What's like Savory & James Cream Sherry

When I am north in Pa. during the summer months, I purchase a cream sherry
by Savory and James and like it very much. I certainly like it better than
the more popular Harvey's Bristol Cream.

Here in Florida, I cannot find Savory and James Cream Sherry, and my local
wine dealer says that he cannot get it. I have tried several other brands
but can find none as good to my unsophisticated palate as Savory and James.
Can anyone suggest a sherry that is close?

Thanks.

Dan

I have not had this wine. However you may be able to buy it on line.
Using www.wine-search.com and doing a search on "Savory & James Cream
Sherry", several sources turned up. One is www.finewinehouse.com which
sells wine over the web out of California. Your wine is in stock for US
$8.99 per bottle. You would need to order several bottles, because
shipping for a sigle bottle is $11.50, but it is 21.5o for 6 bottles or
35.95 for 12 bottles. Title passes to you in California, and the store
only acts as your agent to engage a common carrier. In effect, you ship
the wine to yourself. You are on your own if you order from this
company, because I know nothing about it.

Other Cream Sherries that sometimes are found in the US and have a
following include: Pedro Cream Sherry by Domecq, San Domingo Pale Cream
by Gonzalez Byass, Oloroso Cream by Gracia Hermandos, Armada Cream
Sherry by Sandeman, Canasta Cream by Williams & Humbert, Croft Original
Pale Cream from Croft.

Thanks very much for the information! I thought that there was a
prohibition against shipping wine into Florida, but the approach that you
suggest may very well be a way of getting around that prohibition. I had
already done a search and found that there are people who will ship it, but
to avoid the entire hassle I was hoping that I could find a sherry that is
close in taste to Savory & James.

I will certainly look in my local wine stores to see if any of the sherries
that you list are there. Besides, I rather enjoy the adventure of trying
something new. Of course, the last bottle that I bought I did so because I
liked the label. Turns out, I'm not too crazy about the wine. grin

Thanks again.
