With a simple dinner last night of cheese tortellini in a
tomato-basil-garlic sauce, Jean asked for a "gutsy red." Inspection of the "to drink" rack led me to open a bottle of: 2006 Ch. D'Oupia/André Iché Vin de Pays de l'Herault 'Les Hérétiques' nose: straightahead cherryish fruit palate: taut acidity, medium body, red fruit, a hint of olives Purchased for $6.99 at Whole Paycheck recently, after years of hearing DaleW tout this wine as a perennial QPR winner. Jean's reaction was "get a case of this stuff" and I'm not far off that level of enthusiasm either. Food-friendly, fruity and tasty and a proper farewell to the recently departed André Iché. Good description (hope Jean wasn't too disappointed, as it might be a bit light for "gutsy", but tasty juice for the price). |

Mark Lipton Description and price sound great. Where does one purchase it as I can't find it on wine searcher? |

Larry, I think you must have done something wrong, as Winesearcher shows 15 entries for it, including most of the Usual Suspects in NYC (Astor, Chambers St) The prices listed range from $8.95 to $10.99, so my price at Whole Foods must have been $8.99, not the $6.99 I reported (either that or they had mispriced it) Try putting "Heretiques" into the search bar, Mark Lipton -- alt.food.wine FAQ: http://winefaq.hostexcellence.com |

I'm guessing Dressner had to raise prices when restocking vintage due to currency, maybe WF bought early. I'd say still a value at $9, if not as much an outright steal. Larry, might check Whole Foods if near you. Don't know if they have national or local buyers. But I find under-$10 bottles to be lose value if you have to pay for shipping (for more expensive bottles, sales tax counters shipping costs). |
