pls stop spamming this newsgroup. If you have something to
contribute about wine/food matches, we'd love to hear it.
Otherwise...

Charles, get over yourself. You've had no effect on my day what so
ever!

Seriously though, this is a group about wine. You are pushing your food
site. That's
fine as far as it goes, but this is the wrong forum for it. (Imagine
if every food/drink
but non-wine related person was pushing their thing here; we'd never
get a word in
edgewise.) Over the years we've maintained our group with a little
friendly policing
when necessary, which has kept this a fine and friendly place to visit.

By all means come and discuss/propose wines with your dessert creations.
Maybe
you'll learn something, maybe teach something.

Otherwise, please stop spamming the group with off topic posts. OK?
See where
I'm coming from? I add this as you are apparently lurking as well, so
perhaps you
can join us under better circumstances. You'd be welcome.

Can you direct me to the group mandate?

Meaning we try to keep discussions on topic and minimise people
polluting the NG with off topic plugs for their non wine-based
websites?

Thank the lord for that!

Just because the Usenet is free for anyone to access, it doesn't mean
it's without either rules or control. Many discussion groups are
spammed to death. This one isn't and if that's the case, it's because
we try to discourage it. We don't usually react against the first or
second abuse, but if it's repeated regularly by someone who has
absolutely nothing to contribute about wine, then tough my friend,
it's YOU who is in breach of the rules, and hard nosed aggressive
responses won't endear you nor will they persuade people to visit your
precious site, or contribute to it.

People, people, people. The name to me implied a food AND wine discussion
group. I wouldn't have posted here otherwise. I had no intention to spam
this group, I only posted to food and recipe groups which I thought this was
one.

Now can anyone please direct me to the complete mandate for this group? Is
there a group mod?

The confusion is understandable, arising from an ill-considered move to
the alt hierarchy years ago, resulting in the nominal placement in the
alt.food.* hierarchy. However, I have pointed you to the group charter,
which in the alt.* hierarchy is the only enforcable limit on discussion.
There is no moderator, nor is there any other mandate for this group.
However, most NSPs will treat the charter as defining what is on-topic,
and repeated abuse -- such as repeated postings that have nothing to do
with the group charter and serve only to advertise a blog. "Only" is
the key word there, as no one would likely object to you posting
wine-related comments here with the same signature advertising your
blog. Rather, it is the fact that your posts have been totally devoid
of wine-related commentary that Emery (very politely IMO) pointed out
and makes them seem to be mere advertisement rather than on-topic
content. There are plenty of food-related newsgroups in which your
recipes would be entirely on-topic. Rec.food.cooking is the granddaddy
of them all. Why not send your recipes to where they're welcome and
post any wine-related topics here?
