Reading the Times over breakfast y'day, Jane MacQ chose her star red wine
under £20, the winner was:- Ladoix 1er cru, Le Clou d'Orge, Dom Chevalier 2005 £15 from Majestic. Straight on the phone, any left?..."one case", save it for me please. Never had a App. Con. Ladoix before. With herb crusted rack of lamb, celeriac mash and purple sprouting. Viscous bright brick red.....a true burgundian red, nose of soft fruit and woodland, spicy fruit palate, almost too much fruit, but acidity to balance, very long. A stunner. Well if this is typical of 2005 red burgundy, wonderful as I have a few. A question......this is superb now, will it last, and what will be the drinking window? John T |
