Ciao. I am new to this group and somewhat new to the world of wine,
but I am learning (and many thanks for this group as I have already learned a lot here). Does anyone have a really good recipe for Sangria? Also, what is the best wine to use as the base? I've looked at the past post, but an unfamiliar with most of the suggestions. Remember, I am a newbie. Anon http://www.rossobella.blogspot.com |

As to wine, I think that best idea is to go to a decent wine shop and say you want something: red (unless you want to make white sangria!) cheap fruity. low tannin and probably low acid When I've ended up with a couple bottles of something that I didn't like, but with good fruit, I've basically used this framework for a punch bowl at a big outdooor party: slice up 3-4 apples, 2-3 oranges, maybe 1 lime Put in a bowl with a few spoonfuls of sugar, and a half-cup Cointreau or Grand Marinier. Add 2-3 bottles of red wine, let sit couple hours. Add some ice cubes and a bag of ice, and a 2-liter bottle of sparkling water. |

There are several recent Sangria threads, still active, and a Search will yield dozens of recipes. Discussion of base-wine is now on-going in a current one.
