Hello! I'm a visitor here who is new to tofu.
I have some extra-firm tofu in the freezer. I plan to thaw, squeeze/drain and use part of it, but want to keep the rest for another day. Do I treat it the same as tofu that had never been frozen, i.e. put it under water in the fridge and change the water every day? What happens if you forget to change the water one day? DO you have to discard the tofu? thanks! Chris |

I Googled, but could not find answers to these specific questions, so I appreciate any good pointers you can pass along. Chris |

According to :
What happens if you forget to change the water one day? DO you have to discard the tofu? Tofu question part deux: And....can you re-freeze the leftover thawed tofu? I can't answer for tofu inparticular, but I think it's generally considered a bad idea to refreeze anything. Especially dairy, but with tofu being high protein, I'd recommend against it. -- Caption Competition: http://sig.comps.org/caption/ |

It is not recommended that you re-freeze tofu... not sure why other than
bacteria... once you have thawed the tofu it should be used that day... I've been cooking with tofu for around 30 yrs and seen tofu go off in a day very easily.... have a beautiful day.... -- Bill Help thy brother's boat across and thine own has reached the shore Art proper is expression; expression is that 'of which there can be no technique'.
