Default Vegetarian shrimp?

Hi all,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I didn't find a
definitive answer when I searched on here. Does anyone know where I
can buy vegetarian shrimp? The only place I've seen to mail order it
online has a minimum $50 order. Also, if anyone knows of any stores in
the NYC area that carry it, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Stephanie

mod note

I've never heard of this product but I'm assuming this is something made from
vegetable rather than animal sources.

If my assumption is correct, the online retailer that has the $50.00
minimum order has a store located in NYC. The website is
www.vegieworld.com, correct? The name of their brick and mortar outlet is
called May Wah. If you look at the bottom of the website you'll see the
address:
Store is located at
213 Hester Street, New York, NY 10013
Tel: (877) 668-2668 Fax: (212) 334-4423
Store open from 9:30AM ~ 8PM Mon ~ Sun

They carry a large variety of mock meats including vegetarian prawns and
lobster balls (both without animal products).

I've seen it in the freezers in various Chinese supermarkets. (In
Oxford and London, but I'm sure you have such things in NYC too )

Lorraine,

Thanks for posting that! I've been to the store on Hester St., it's tiny and
on a side street but wow, what a great selection! The veggie shrimp is *very*
good, I've made scampi with it and it's a big hit.

You're welcome ) Good to know that the veggie shrimp was a hit. I've
been wanting to order some from them, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Glad to find out that it will be worth the expense.
