Well, as I was chipping off a chunk from my Pu Er cake today
for my morning tea, imagine my surprise and delight to find a little curled white feather sticking out from deep inside the cake! I think it's a chicken feather. Has anyone else found any "surprise bonus gifts" in thier Pu Er before? I'm keeping this one. Maybe there's a beak or a foot in there somewhere! Exciting! Thanks, Troy .. |

I think it's a chicken feather. Well, look at it this way. Now, when you're enticing people to try pu'erh for the first time, you can say it kinda tastes like chicken! Honestly though, I find it a little disturbing. What other body parts might be lurking within? Hmmm..............................p* |

It had clearly been compressed in the block. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

LOL!
Well.. I think this lends a definately exciting edge to the world of Pu Er drinking. I'm really curious what kinds of critters I might find in my next cake. In fact, I think I'll be disappointed if i don't find something. Of course, I'm the sort of guy who willingly ate bugs, lizards, snakes, and parts of animals usually discarded while I was in China. Soo... Maybe I don't represent a typical reaction to this. Thinking about it.. this probably lends creedence to the steam method for breaking apart your cakes into loose leafs. This way, you'll have a chance to pick through the whole cake, and find out what is, or is not, in there. Not to mention just being a relaxing and nice smelling way to spend 30 minutes or so. -Troy Howard (aka Da Tong) |

The worst I've found was recently when I did my first steamed
dismantling of a cake (reported he http://www.livejournal.com/community/puerh_tea). I found two camellia seeds, one small and one large, and one (camellia) flower. ![]() |
