Default Sturdy Tea Kettle with push-button opener

Hi folks,

When I a kid we always had a tea kettle on the stove (my dad's English
-- go figure). Anyway, it was a good size, had a handle that
completed -- or nearly completed a loop, it whistled, and had a
push-button to flip the cover up and down. We would push the button
witht the thumb of the hand holding the kettle.

I've been into stores and to websites and cannot find such a beast.
Do they not make them anymore? All I can seem to find are one's with
funny pull latches or ones that open when you tip them. I did find
one that was the right design, but it was about half the size of a
normal kettle.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about and/or where I can find one?

Thanks,

Jeff

I have a Revere copper bottom like you are describing, but it is an
older one. Here is something similar in the Revere line:

I had a Copco like you described. I wore it out. Now I have Calphalon that I
hate (no whistle, frequent steam burns, PITA). Here is what I found for you:

Copco: http://www.kitchenkapers.com/copstratket2.html

another: http://www.kitchenkapers.com/comiteakepos.html

Farberware Classic Tiburon 2-1/2-Quart Whistling Stainless-Steel Teakettle:

An Oxo model:

You're describing my kettle...It is the common model of wistling kettles
here in Japan. They are also common in Europe.
That one is exactly like mine :

They are very convenient with induction heaters. The high-end ones are from
Italy.
For instance, the melodic Alessi.

You'll get others in other styles by browsing "whistling kettle" .

What's the size of a normal kettle ? Mine is 2 liter. There are big ones (up
to 6 liters)but not so convenient, as it's quicker to boil twice 2
liters...and much more comfortable to carry with my little wrist.
