My standby for sushi in Boston is FuGaKyu in Brookline. So far it's the best sushi that I've had in New England. Any picks for the Boston area that are at least as good as this one? Yes, try Yokohama in Brookline (ask what is special). Outside of Boston, Sushi Island in Wakefield is excellent. Toraya in Arlington is also excellent. But these last two are a big of a hike if you don't drive. -- Dan |

I like to go out for sushi when I'm in Boston and a change of scenery is nice. I'm glad no one chimed in with Mr. Sushi, maybe it is good but just the name turns me off. Jessica |

I've tried two different Mr. Sushi, and neither of them wow'ed me. When do you expect to be in town? -- Dan |

I went to this tiny little place in Woburn a few years ago that actually served up really decent sushi that I enjoyed, which surprised me, as I was visiting from Hawaii and was thoroughly disgusted at the quality of other East Coast asian restaurants (Thai and Chinese, especially...utterly horrid!). But this little joint in Woburn passed my taste test with flying colors I just wish I remember what the name of the place was... |

Unfortunately it has gone down hill. If you liked Sushi Cafe, you'd really like the other I mentioned. Sushi Cafe was cheap, but never had great quality fish. -- Dan |

I also like the Ginza branches (one in Brookline, the other near South Station). I may take flack for this, but I'm also a huge fan of Gyuhama (across from the Prudential Center). People have complained about service (referred to the hostess as "Dragon Lady"). However, I've never gotten anything but good service and extremely fresh sushi. But, I stand by my opinion. They treat me good for whatever reason. Scoop |
