Default Sad news about Steve Wong

I first started corresponding with Steve when I visited Portland in
the spring of 2002. I posted a message on this forum requesting info
about sushi places in that city and Steve responded. I visited
Portland again this year, in September, and while there I met Steve
for lunch twice. One day, after lunch, we stopped by David Lutjen's
shop.

Steve was a great guy, very cheerful and very friendly. He seemed to
be recovering from his illness (leukemia, I believe) very well under
his chemotherapy treatments and we were planning on where to go to
next when I returned to Portland. I told Steve about the great raw
oysters I had on the Olympic Peninsula, and he was planning to make
the trip up there as soon as he felt a little better.

I was teribly shocked and saddened to hear about his passing last
week.

Steve had been planning to return to work in December.

It's a very nice obituary.
