I've stumbled on a vBulletin group on the net that contains all the postings that are on the Google group that I'm posting this on. This message will appear there as well. http://www.mombu.com/cuisine/f-sushi-and-sashimi-666/ What is the chicken and what is the egg? Is the Google group the first of this group or is this "mombu.com" the real group. I find vBulletin much easier to use than Google and it has options that will make it better as well. Anyone? |

What is the chicken and what is the egg? Usenet is independent of any particular node. Google is actually a portal to a Usenet news server, something anyone can set up if they have the software and a site willing to give them a newsfeed. Google's only "value" is that they never delete anything, unlike most servers, plus they bought the old dejanews server archives, which include posts that go back to the mid-80s. Mombu? Never heard of them. There are a number of websites that copy Usenet articles and use them as search-engine honeypots, collecting errant clicks due to keyword matches so they can collect pennies from advertisers. --Blair |
