I have written here before about how I won't eat octopi or cuttlefish or
even squid because they have high intelligence. But they spawn like mad and bring all these tiny embryonic non-thinking (for about a year or two) replicas into being - a few of which grow up to be the big smart guys I won't eat. This gets into difficult territory so I'm cross-posting this note to alt.abortion.. NOT!! ![]() actually alt.veg.. |

Howard: I've always enjoyed tako even though its one of the least expensive items to top off your sushi. They are a carnivore so I don't have any trouble eating them before they eat me. Years ago, I used to make tako sandwiches which would surprise many Japanese when I told them about it (tastes great). Several decades back, while eating tako at a sushiya, I was told that you can tell the gender by the layout of the suckers. One gender has the suckers in a geometric layout while the other gender is somewhat irregular in spacing on the tenticles. I don't know if that is true or not, but you can see it and it made for an interesting bit of trivia at the time. Kanpai. -- Rik -- Rik Brown |

I never knew that. Very interesting "Food for thought" as they say. But having eaten tako constantly for 30+ years (not to mention quite a few items in Asia that just don't make the menu in the USA by law), I'll keep on consuming it. If it tastes good, I eat it. Cheers! -- Rik -- Rik Brown |
