Default OT - someone who reads Japanese - Help!

Hello,

I would really appreciate it if someone who can read Japanese (and has
their pc setup for the character sets) could take a peek at these URLs
and tell me what is in the picture. From the URL, one would assume it
is beak from an animal, a tako/octopus perhaps?

Thanks

Looks clam-like to me.. or some sort of gland.

The photo is a beak from either an octopus or a squid.
That is not made clear.
This photo is part of a database built up by studying the beaks found as
part of the stomach contents of whales, pinnipeds, sea birds etc.
There is an English section devoted entirely to this he

Darn, and I thought that you had discovered some new exotic Japanese
food that I'd be ordering on my next trip to Tokyo...

Actually the meat which surrounds the squid beaks
is very good. I'm not kidding.
