I forgot who recommended this here (perhaps more than one of you) but I want
to thank you. I finally got around to ordering it from Amazon, and reading it. It's far and away the best buck on sushi I've ever seen. Unlike all the others, it's all text, with no pictures, and it's extremely informative. I also like the dry wit of the author. -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup |

I just need to buy a copy of my own, now. Then thank you again. -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup |

It was actually Nathan Palmer that recommended it back on 12-7-05.

A Connoisseur's Guide to Sushi, by Dave Lowry, published this year by Harvard Common Press. The author is very, very funny; dry sense of humor--but it's by far the most detailed book I've ever seen on sushi. I was alerted to the book when I was in a sushi place I go regularly and saw a copy of it near the counter. The chef told me was reading it and he said there was stuff in there about sushi he never knew. It goes into every conceivable detail about the subject, even explaining why certain shapes of dishes are used, how sushi gets arranged on the plate as it does, a lot of the whys and hows I'd never even considered. Has anyone else read this book and what do you think? Thanks. - Buddy |
