"Feuer" wrote in message ... Forget the oven. Starter does not go in the oven except in cookbooks. Starter also does not get put in the refrigerator unless it's been fed at most an hour or two beforehand. And starter does not go into bread until it's been refreshed at least 6 times (for some value of 6). David Wow! No wonder pioneers had such a hard life. Along with carving homes out of the wilderness, they had the worry of refreshing their sourdough at least 6 times before making bread. Must have been really rough on those on horseback. I am still trying to figure out how I get my sourdough in a cookbook so I can put it in my oven. Not to worry though. I have just hired one of the top scientists at NASA to help me watch over my sourdough. AB |
