Local cuisine in Gatlinburg are fudge shops and Shoney's. If you are looking
for good food....there are a couple of restaurants on the main drag...but don't
hold your breath for haute cuisine.

While the Gatlinburg area has a lot of restaurant, none of them are
particularly memorable (think buffets, pancake houses, fudge, and ice
cream stands).

That said, up the road in Sevierville (which can be near or far,
depending on traffic), is the Applewood Farmhouse, which is pretty
decent, and meets the "local cuisine" aspect. It's a fancy pancakce
house. I think they now have one in Gatlinburg as well.

If the Park Grill is still there, it's pretty good, but pricey.

Calhouns for BBQ is a local tradition as well, but nothing remarkable.

(Disclaimer: I don't live around there anymore and don't get back frequently)

They have a pancake pantry up there. I've never been to that location,
but its sister store in Nashville is an institution.

There is also a yummy Italian place that will deliver to your hotel called
Anthony's, I recommend the antipasto salad.
I have no idea what the actual restaurant is like, but the food is so good I
haven't forgotten in 8 years!
The restaurants are in the order of my preferences as I previously lived in
TN and visited Gatlinburg often over the years.
