The commentator all seemed to enjoy this place. On a return visit, I'd like to sample the tasso and duck dishes. I liked the attitude of this place, sort of a honky tonk, with juke box music. And yet the service was incredible. Great, you really enjoyed it ![]() A really wonderfully central place in the quarter - Cafe Du Monde. Cafe with outside tables where it is obligatory to have beignet. People watching is fabulous from this old style cafe that is now almost 150 years old and open 24 hours every day except Christmas. I guess the employees will soon finally have a much deserved day off. There's a great slide show of the building and architecture at http://wwaaw.cafedumonde.com/main.html make sure to click through both yesterday and today links to see how the cafe has evolved. beignets described at same site http://www.cafedumonde.com/beignet.html _Baltimore_ I am amused by the fact that a former employee of Coops has his own restaurant in Edgewood MD. Clarence's Taste of Baltimore. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertai...0,736926.venue Perhaps this is accessible once I move. I've never heard of crab pretzels. I'll try them though. I'm wondering what their taste might be. .. _Cold Mountain_ I (TV) watched (for the second time) this great movie on Sunday www.imdb.com/title/tt0159365/plotsummary. Although there are many horrible scenes it's a wonderful love story. And, moreover, I really enjoyed the great N.C. landscapes and, particularly, the Blue Ridge Mountains. I haven't seen it, but if it is on cable, I will make a point to catch it this week. I have been really busy and haven't been doing much tv watching. I know the movie won an abundance of awards. _The House_ I got a chinese fortune cookie today: everything will go well with your home. Let's hope this is real and that the purchase and move really will go that well. I'll keep my fingers crossed! The house has been empty for four years, so there is much work to do on it. I will barely be ready for the real estatenik tomorrow. I stopped to walmart today and got another chinese meal. The owners are formerly from Philadelphia and lived not to far from my part of the city. The teenage daughter said -- o you are Ukrainian. Those folks are good athletes. I laughed and said, WHAT are you blind, we are also intelligent and quite beautiful. I sort of embarrassed her, so I told her I was a terrible athlete. The cookie today said "birds are entangled by their feet and men by their tongues" Ok I will let the real estatenik talk and will shut up. Real estatenik - meaning? Real estate agent. I made up the word. Beatnik, peacenik, real estate nik. for the power ladies while I am buying a house mk5000 "I know none of y'all satisfied, satisfied / The way prices has been going up on things / I can barely buy a morning paper...But then early one morning I got me a paper / I sat down on my living room floor and opened it up / Guess what I saw? I saw the president of the United States / The man said he wasn't gonna give it up / He did resign / But he still turned around and left all us poor folks behind / They say they got another man to take his place / But I don't think that he can satisfy the human race."[[Teddy Pendergrass, Bad Luck |
