Sourdough Onion Rings We tried the recipe from Nancy Silverton's book and really liked them. I cut the recipe in half and it made a ton! I sliced the onions a bit less than 1/2 inch thick too. Here is the full recipe 1lb 2 oz starter 4 oz sparkling water 1/2 t salt 3 large onions cut into 1/2 inch slices 4 oz white flour oil Fill a large bowl with ice cubes. Place a medium bowl inside. In this bowl, mix: starter, water and salt. Heat oil in a pan to 375 degrees. Dredge onions in the white flour. Dip into sourdough mixture and place into pan. Fry 2-3 minutes until golden. Drain and sprinkle with salt. Keep warm in 275 degree oven until all are fried. enjoy! marcella |
