Default Spiced Cranberries

Spiced Cranberries
Submitted by Barbara W. of Birmingham AL.

4 cups of cranberries
1 tablespoon of grated lemon zest
2 1/2 cups of sugar
1/2 cup of water
1 cinnamon stick, about 3 1/2 inches long
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves

Pick over the cranberries, discarding any soft ones, and set aside.
Combine the lemon zest with the sugar in a food processor and twirl
until the zest is finely grated. Using a large saucepan, combine the
zest and sugar with the water, cinnamon stick, lemon juice and cloves.
Bring it to a boil and cook for 5 minu6tes. Add the cranberries and
boil for 12 to 15 minutes, until a thick sauce has formed. Let it
cool. Once cooled, refrigerate until ready to serve. It goes great
with roast turkey and chicken. Makes 3 1/2 - 4 cups
