Candied Walnuts
1 1/2 cups of sugar 1/2 cup of water 1/4 cup of light corn syrup 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 4 cups of shelled whole walnuts In a heavy saucepan, mix the sugar, water, and light corn syrup. Heat to soft ball stage, 240ºF. with a candy thermometer. remove from the heat and add vanilla. Stir in walnuts and mix until they are coated. Pour onto waxed paper to cool. Break apart. Store in a covered tin. Makes 1 pound of nuts |
