Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have two recipes for you. They were from my home economics class in
1976.
The chocolate chip cookies are my favorite, because I love chocolate.
The
applesauce bars are great also.

Ingredients:

2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 12-ounce pkg. chocolate chips
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in
remaining ingredients. Drop by rounded teaspoons, 2 inches apart on
ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned.
Cool
slightly before removing from sheet.
